Soar in the beauty of freedom

Like most people around the world, Malaysians have had a long journey battling a global pandemic. Here at HABIB, we see the importance of celebrating the nation’s independence day together, focusing on ‘Keindahan Merdeka’ – the theme for this year. Malaysia’s independence day is a reminder that despite the hardship and struggles that we may go through now, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and we can all come out of it stronger and better than before. As social and economic restrictions start loosening up with the increase in vaccination rates, we see more people coming out from the lockdown, slowly getting back to their daily lives. To signify this beautiful transformation, HABIB adopted the elements of butterflies in its gold jewelleries and gold wafers which metaphorically is a representation of the journey.

We are optimistic that the future of normalcy will be restored, and our butterfly inspired items are a timely reminder that we will all soar in the beauty of freedom. The HABIB Butterfly Limited Edition 999 Gold Wafer Collection are available in exclusive designs, featuring Malaysian butterflies: The Rajah Brooke’s Birdwing, Emerald Swallowtail, Malay Lacewing, Paper Kite and Long Tailed Blue, each sit on bright batik designs. Each piece bright and unique and perfect as a gift, investment or to keep as collectors’ item.

And as part of the annual Merdeka promotion, HABIB also introduced a new range of butterfly-inspired jewellery in yellow, white and rose gold color combinations. Available in 22K, 18K and 9K gold, the delicate jewelleries come adorned with a variety of diamonds and gemstones settings.

We have also collaborated with local artist, Najib Bamadhaj, to create a piece of artwork that ties in with the theme of Keindahan Merdeka, titled National Aspiration.

National Aspiration by Najib Bamadhaj

The inspiration behind National Aspiration comes from strength, and the ray of hope for a return to normalcy. Fluttering yellow butterflies represent hopeful Malaysians and the country, tirelessly working together in overcoming the pandemic. Among the butterflies are the magnificent 5 Malaysian species of butterflies, an interpretation of the multiracial harmony the nation has fostered since our Independence. Although we may have been impacted differently, Malaysians are still united and standing strong in the face of adversity, and we have not given up. The panoramic Kuala Lumpur skyline and the Malaysian flag complement the overall visual depicting unwavering Malaysians’ Merdeka and fighting spirit.

Like artists, HABIB is all about expressing creativity through exquisite and timeless jewellery designs that transcends generations and cultures. While we are not able to have a grand Merdeka Day celebration this year, we can nonetheless send a strong message of unity, togetherness and hope amid the pandemic via this beautiful art representation.

Following the campaign’s launch, Najib’s National Aspiration painting will be on rotational display at selected HABIB showrooms. Customers who wish to marvel in the beauty of the visual artwork and to check out HABIB’s Merdeka Collection can visit any of HABIB’s nearest operating showrooms.
